Illawarra skin clinic named national beauty industry salon team of year

Skin Correctives, with skin clinics located in Wollongong and Shellharbour, has been named winner of the Australian Beauty Industry Award ABIA Salon Team of the Year for 2021.

Which was considered more important than ever given the impact COVID-19 had on the industry this year.

2021 will be remembered as a year beauty businesses faced unprecedented economic and logistical challenges. But Mrs Meiring De Gonzalez said as everyone heads towards 2022 there is renewed positivity and solidarity as salons and spas rebuild and reconnect.

Winners of the Australian Beauty Industry Awards were due to be announced at The Star in Sydney in August but were pushed back because of the recent lockdowns.

Mrs Meiring De Gonzalez said she was grateful for her team and the recognition they had earned during such a difficult time.

Skin Correctives started in Shellharbour more than a decade ago and was recognised for helping clients improve their skin through state-of-the-art skin revision technologies and paramedical skincare.

The business expanded to Wollongong in 2012 and Mrs Meiring De Gonzalez said she enjoyed being able to lead and mentor such an incredible team of dedicated skin professionals who share her passion.

Mrs Meiring De Gonzalez is herself qualified with multiple International and Masters Diplomas in Beauty Therapy and Aesthetics.

And the citation commended her for the way she continues to invest heavily in education and personal development for herself and her team.

Mocha Group owner/publisher Linda Woodhead said it was great to be able to recognise their expertise.

“The Skin Correctives team are the perfect example of industry leaders and will make excellent ambassadors for the awards program and their local area,” she said

” As with all our 2021 winners they are now looked to both nationally and globally as innovators in technique, trend and service. The Illawarra community should be so proud of this achievement.”
