Lactic peels, also known as lactic acid peels, are a type of chemical peel used in skincare. They primarily contain lactic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk, though it is often synthetically produced for skincare products.
Lactic peels are renowned for their multifaceted benefits in skincare, primarily attributed to the properties of lactic acid. This alpha hydroxy acid excels in exfoliating the skin's surface layer. By removing dead skin cells, it promotes a smoother and brighter complexion. In contrast to other AHAs, lactic acid stands out with its unique hydrating capabilities, significantly increasing the skin's moisture levels. This makes lactic peels particularly suitable for those with dry or sensitive skin. Furthermore, these peels are effective in addressing hyperpigmentation. Regular application can visibly reduce the presence of dark spots, age spots, and other related discolorations.
Beyond just hydration and pigmentation correction, lactic peels play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall texture and tone of the skin. With consistent use, they contribute to a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, leading to a more youthful and even appearance. Notably, lactic acid is generally less irritating than other AHAs like glycolic acid, rendering these peels a preferred option for individuals with sensitive skin. This gentler nature does not compromise their effectiveness, ensuring that the skin reaps all the rejuvenating benefits without undue irritation.
The DermaFrost Peel is a specialised beta hydroxy acid (BHA) peel that targets the multifaceted issues associated with acne-prone skin. This treatment is particularly effective in managing oily skin types and is meticulously designed to penetrate through excess oil. Its primary action is to significantly reduce the presence of bacteria on the skin, which is a common contributing factor to acne development.
In addition to its antibacterial properties, the DermaFrost Peel plays a crucial role in alleviating inflammation, a common symptom in acneic skin conditions. By addressing inflammation, it aids in reducing the redness and swelling often associated with acne, leading to a clearer and more balanced skin appearance.
Stimulating to collagen and elastin production, this peel is perfect if you are concerned about fine lines, deeper expression lines, skin lightening, tone and texture, and mild scar revision.
Our Jessner Peel is a medium-depth epidermal peel, which means it increases cellular turnover and stimulates fibroblast cell activity for collagen and elastin production. It is an advanced resurfacing peel used to reveal a brighter, healthier, more youthful-looking skin.

One to two weeks before the peel, it is important to avoid waxing, electrolysis, laser or IPL hair removal, prescription retinoids or retinoid-like compounds such as Retin-A, Renova, Differin, or Tazorac, and products containing retinol, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, or exfoliating agents. You should also refrain from microdermabrasion, chemical resurfacing treatments, dermaplaning, cosmetic injectables, skin needling, hair bleaching creams, and hair removal creams or home rollers.
If you have recently undergone medical or cosmetic facial procedures, such as lasers or IPL, you must wait until all skin sensitivity has resolved and provide written consent from your doctor before proceeding with a chemical peel.
ON THE DAY: Before the treatment can start, we will assess your current state of the skin. If you are visiting us for the first time, please allow an additional hour for our complete Facial Imaging Skin Assessment.
You will be required to give consent for treatment by signing the 'Informed Consent' form. This way, we can make sure that you can receive the Circadia Peel and have no present conditions which are contraindicated with this procedure.
As you comfortably lie down, your skin therapist will begin with a thorough cleansing to prepare your skin. Following this, the Circadia chemical peel process begins, tailored to your skin's needs. The peel solution is carefully applied in layers, ensuring even coverage from the neck to the forehead.
During the treatment, your skin therapist may perform gentle techniques to enhance absorption and effectiveness. You may feel a mild tingling or warming sensation, which is completely normal and indicates the peel is working to rejuvenate your skin.
Immediately after the peel, your skin may feel tight and appear slightly pink, resembling a mild sunburn. Mild flaking or peeling is normal as the skin renews itself, and some dryness or sensitivity may occur. It’s important not to pick at any peeling skin, as this can lead to scarring or pigmentation issues.
Post-treatment care is essential to maximise results and protect your skin. Follow these guidelines:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and always use broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- Avoid heat, perspiration, and activities such as exercise or swimming while peeling.
- Refrain from using exfoliants, Vitamin A, AHAs, or BHAs for 7 days after the treatment.
- Only use the recommended post-treatment products, as directed by your skin therapist.
Your therapist will provide detailed instructions and guidance on when to resume your regular skincare routine.
