Unwanted hair can affect more than just your appearance—it can impact your confidence, your comfort, and how you feel in your own skin. Whether you’re managing hormonal hair growth from PCOS, facial hair during gender transition, or persistent regrowth after laser treatments, finding a permanent solution can feel impossible.
At Skin Correctives, we offer an advanced, proven treatment that works on all hair colours and skin tones — Apilus XCell Pro electrolysis. This cutting-edge technology offers true permanent hair removal, even for white, grey, blonde, red, or fine hairs that are untreatable with laser or IPL.
Apilus XCell Pro is the most advanced electroepilation device available today. It uses ultrafast 27.12 MHz frequency — up to 8 times faster than conventional electrolysis — to precisely and gently target the base of each hair follicle, delivering more effective results with less discomfort.
Your electrolysis treatments are performed exclusively by our Director, Karen Meiring de Gonzalez, a highly experienced electrologist who has been practising since 1991. Internationally qualified, Karen holds a Diploma in Advanced Electrolysis and has completed over 200 hours of advanced training with Dectro International, the creators of the Apilus XCell Pro.
Karen is known for her gentle approach, deep knowledge, and dedication to helping clients feel confident in their skin. She has supported clients through a wide range of journeys — from managing PCOS-related hair to gender-affirming care and post-laser regrowth — and understands just how emotional and personal unwanted hair can be.
Her decades of experience, combined with the most advanced technology available, ensure every treatment is performed with care, precision, and outstanding results.

Before the treatment can begin, we ask that you avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. The treatment area should be clean, free of lotions, oils, and perfumes on the day.
In the days leading up to your session, we recommend gentle exfoliation and daily moisturising to ensure the skin is well hydrated. Hydrated skin supports better conductivity and more effective results.
Before the treatment can start, we will assess your current state of the skin and structure of hair. If you are visiting us for the first time, please allow additional 30 minutes for our Hair Removal Consultation.
You will be required to give consent for treatment by signing the 'Informed Consent' form. This way, we can make sure that you can undergo Electrolysis and have no present conditions which are contraindicated with this procedure.
Electrolysis can be safely used on any part of the body, including your legs, underarms etc.
During the treatment, a fine sterile probe is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle. This process does not pierce the skin and is typically well tolerated with minimal sensation.
Once the probe reaches the base of the follicle, a short burst of heat is delivered to destroy the cells responsible for hair growth. The treated hair is then carefully removed without resistance. You may feel a brief warmth or mild tingling during this stage.
It’s important to note that hair grows in cycles. For best results, multiple sessions are needed to treat all hairs in their active growth phase. Your Skin Therapist will advise you on the recommended treatment intervals to achieve long-lasting results.
The results of Electrolysis are immediate. The skin in the treated area can appear red and swollen, and in some cases, you may experience mild pin-point scabbing. Specific aftercare advice will be given to you by your Electrologist.
Please be aware that depending on the treated area(s), the growth phase of your hair and your hair structure, you are likely to require multiple treatments to get rid of all the targeted hair permanently.
A Hair Removal Consultation is an essential first step in your hair reduction journey. That’s why its cost is fully redeemable on your first treatment with us.
